I purchased this item for my 3.5 year old for Christmas. First it is very difficult to open. You have to put pressure on it and pull it open. My son pinched his hand closed in it and I had to put pressure on it to separate it enough for him to remove his skin from it. Within minutes one of the spare tires had come loose (not good since we have a 1 year old running around). A few minutes later the tool box came unglued and fell out. Later in the day one of the shower parts popped off. Overall I would not suggest this toy. I really wish I would have gotten the Mac hauler or some other Mac toy. This one is not impressive at all!

Our three year old son received Mack from his uncle for his birthday. He loves it! He plays with it every day. He and his twin sister put Lightning McQueen in the back and pretend to wash him, brush his teeth and get him oil from the refrigerator. I liked that this 2008 model comes with Lightning McQueen instead of having to purchase him separately. I would agree with some of the reviews from the older model that the plastic does seem a little cheap and flimsy in some of the smaller parts. But, so far it has held up to daily play by two three year olds without breaking.

This is the first toy my son ever specifically requested. He wanted “a Mack truck that a McQueen can drive in and out of”. He was thrilled to get it (as a prize for *finally* switching to underwear!), but I must say I not impressed. The materials are kind of cheap as others have previously noted. It squeaks when it drives. I’m sort of indifferent on the gadgets inside; I guess they are sort of entertaining, but they also kind of get in the way. The truck can be difficult to open and close… which I guess is OK as a lesson in persistence and control — to get it open without flinging McQueen out, and to get it closed since things have to be turned the right way to fit. The thing that bothers me the most about it is that the back hatch has to be closed before putting the sides up — so you can’t have the truck assembled (like a real truck!), drive McQueen up, and then close the back behind him…. which is what my kid really wanted to do. That being said, he still really likes it. If there were other options they could certainly be made better, but they have the advantage of a monopoly on the market here…

My kid loves to play with her mc queen and often looses him so we got this to help not loose him and it works greats. The inside is a little flimsy and fall often so wish they would have been glued in or something? But she enjoys her new Mac Truck and extra mc queen. She just turned 5 and cant be happier with her new toy.

Our son received this toy as a gift when he turned 2. That was in 2006 and Mack is still going strong with minimal damage. A couple of the smaller pieces to the car wash went missing, but he still doesn’t seem to care and he’s almost 5 and a half now. In 2007 we had another little boy who, by 18 months, quickly became just as obsessed with Cars as his big brother. The power of marketing you know. We thought our older son would loose interest and we could just pass it on to our younger son, but no such luck. Anyways, after endless fights over Mack we decided to buy another one and it was a good decision. Now we have 2 Lightnings, 2 Kings, 2 Chick Hicks, and all is well…well, most of the time. My boys highly recommend this toy and other boys in the family love playing with it when they come over.
