The best song and video from The Cars (in my opinion) ! Original video-music with Benjamin Orr (1947-2000) as a vocal (Heartbeaty City Album, 1984). More: en.wikipedia.org ¨¨ Model and Actress: Paulina Porizcova, Ric Ocasek’s wife. ¨¨ This song was written by Ric Ocasek, produced by Mutt Lange / The Cars, directed by Timothy Hutton and was the greatest success from The Cars with Benjamin Orr (bass and also vocal) singing.

@rhythmpeople I’ll check it out, thanks for the suggestion. I suggest that you (and everyone else who reads this) should check out a-ha’s later albums, if you haven’t already. They just recently called it quits, but they made many great albums. They made 9 albums, but it seems that most Americans only knew them for their debut and maybe their second one. I don’t think they ever made a bad album, and there are a lot of gems to be found throughout their catalog.

@TsugaruClan–Devo’s “Something For Everyone” was probably their best work ever. If you missed it; check it out!

@Pacisdiligo I agree with you as well. Ric’s voice is as good as it has ever been and arguably even better then it was back in the ’80s. While Orr’s voice was more smooth, Ric does a good, solid job here, occasionally even sounding like Orr. Man, the new album’s incredible. I think it’s the best album by an 1980s group that I’ve heard in more than a decade. I suggest that U2, Depeche Mode and especially R.E.M. take some notes on how to make a great album without selling out to what’s “new.”

@TsugaruClan: Agreed. I have been thinking the same thing. Even Ric has stated in interviews that he realizes that there are songs on “Move Like This” that Ben would have sung better. Ric does a fine job though and the album is a winner.

@Pacisdiligo It’s hard to listen to their new song “Soon” without thinking how it would have been if Benjamin Orr were still around to sing it. It’s definitely a song in the “Drive” mode, and “Drive” remains my all-time favorite Cars songs, and one of my all-time favorite songs in general.

A timeless Cars classic. Ben had such a great and unique voice, he is sorely missed. So glad the remaining members reunited and gave us such a great new album! Welcome back boys!
