“Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” Premieres Friday March 26, 9 – 10 pm, ET on ABC For more clips / info: jfigearo.wordpress.com Jamie Oliver is here to start a revolution. The impassioned chef, TV personality and best-selling author is determined to take on the high statistics of obesity, heart disease and diabetes in this country, where our nation’s children are the first generation not expected to live as long as their parents. Oliver is inviting viewers to take a stand and change the way America eats, in our home kitchens, schools and workplaces, with the thought-provoking new series, “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution,” debuting FRIDAY, MARCH 26 (9 – 10 pm, ET) on the ABC Television Network. The series is produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions and Fresh One Productions. In the series, Oliver heads to Huntington, West Virginia – which has been called the unhealthiest city in America — to start his new cooking initiative. He hopes to help get Huntington off that list and start a chain reaction of positive change across the country. Oliver says, “The time is right for people to rediscover the sense of pride, satisfaction and fun you can get from cooking for the people you love. There’s an incredible community in Huntington, and I want this experience to be a celebration of what we can achieve when people come together. I want to prove that turning around the epidemic of obesity and bad health doesn’t have to be boring or dull in the slightest. Wonderful stories will unfold …

I absolutely agree with everything that this man has to say. The only problem is that people don’t want to be preached at. They don’t want to be told or accept that they are wrong. Sadly the only time that most people can change their lifestyle and ideas is when their decisions have come back to bite them in the ass. The underlying message should be personal responsibility and accountability on an individual level. If you continue to make bad decisions, you are responsible for the consequences.

What Jamie doesn’t understand is that we don’t GIVE A SHIT about healthy food. Because of health nuts like him, my fucking school requires every1 to get a side dish with the meal in hopes that we will eat it; EVERY1 throws said “healthy” side away, and despite that I tell them “keep it, i don’t want to waste it,” they tell me it’s fucking district policy to make sure it leaves with us, and we have to pay for this uneaten food! Waste of my money, and food that could b put to better use elsewhere.

i always feel right bad for jamie when i’m reminded about this (when the people made him cry), he’s such a nice genuine person, he just wants people to eat healthy and live happy lives and for people to turn around and treat him like shit over something such as food is just horrible, especially when he’s just trying to help them

@fanfictionlover1 And the main cause of obesity is growing reliance on convenience food and an inactive lifestyle. This has actually been scientifically proven.

@fanfictionlover1 Obviously there is some correlation between obesity and poverty but I don’t think it is a major underlying factor. The obesity epidemic is not all because of poverty. My family is dirt poor but we manage to live and eat relatively healthily. And yes fruit and vegetables are slightly more expensive, but they contain carbohydrates and other healthy ingredients, which keep you going for longer.

For the record, tomato and potato are similar sounding words. If you pay attention, the obesity crisis in Huntington is not due to stupidity or apathy. Huntington is one of the poorest cities in America, and fresh fruits and vegetables are expensive. The poverty level in West Virginia is higher than the national average, and one has to recognize this fact. Jamie Oliver, despite good intentions, treated many Huntingtonians as inferiors. The obesity epidemic is a result of cyclical poverty.

The unhealthy lifestyle of most Americans shows that this country is already in its DECADENCE.!!!
Not knowing the difference between tomato and potato; even a 4 year kid in Japan knows already

@neaolin Ok you got a good point, not really thought of it that way, just dont like seeing someone hailed as a hero for making money out of a bad situation when in fact they are really helping themselves first.

@TheDiddlysquat If people are profiting off of making others fat and unhealthy, why not profit off of making them healthy?

This just confirms me how stupid most of the Americans are, if they don’t know even how potatoes and tomatoes looks like. Instead of whining, you people should be thankful for Jamie, he is not doing all this just for fun, HE IS TRYING TO HELP YOU. I live in Finland and in the 12 years of school that I have had for now, I have never seen in the school lunch pizza, hamburgers or fries, and I’m just really happy about it. I feel lucky that I’m not like you, that I had healthy meal everyday.
