  parents dead and hardly get enough to eat. i bet if anyone of you were there, you would kill yourself. still though they could all sing and make money when they leave the orphanage at 16.

  @Radda Luigi: Mark Lester’s singing voice was found to be ineffective for the part (he’s “tone deaf”), so the producers had the director’s daughter, Kathy Green, dub over his parts. They then supposedly combined the two voices to get the final product (or so Lester himself supposedly said). I personally think it’s a lovely voice, though I would’ve preferred they cast an actor who could’ve actually sung his own parts.
