Well, in a supplement for muscle building and weightloss, I don’t really care that much about flavor. Since that would be my only gripe with this stuff, I can’t really even knock off one star for that. I would say as far as getting around taste, if you had access to soy milk and/or some good fruit, it would probably make this stuff a LOT easier to drink.
Pros:
- High energy supplement that is easy to digest, with a good balance of fat, carbs, protein.
- Vegan and Gluten-Free, so pretty much anyone can take it
- Mixes and cleans up easily
- Mild taste, easy to cover up with other smoothie-type foods
Cons:
- If you’re not used to fiber, watch out and ramp it up slowly. Also, if you’ve been eating a lot of junky food (fried stuff, fatty stuff, prepackaged junkfood with lots of preservatives, etc.) you might expect to get “cleaned out” the first two or three days.
- The taste will likely be hard to get by for those not accustomed to “health”-type foods and supplements. It definitely have a faint hint of the wheat-grass taste. Recommend mixing it with something if you have access to it.

I’m not a vegan, however, I am always looking to supplement my nutritional needs with a broad spectrum of proteins and that is just what Vega provides. But Vega goes much farther than just protein. It’s also full of fiber, omega’s, enzymes, probiotics, maca and Chlorella Growth Factor. It’s true it doesn’t taste like Hershey’s chocolate and that’s ok with me. My 2 favorite flavors are Chocolate and Berry. I’m not fond of the Vanilla Chai as it tastes a little like tea and I’m not a tea drinker. However, I know a tea drinker who LOVES the vanilla chai flavor. I’ve been using various Vega products for 3 years now and feel that it’s a product which helps me stay on top of my game, (running, swimming, weight training). And I’m a 57 year old female who lost 80 pounds in the last 3 years! I suggest you pick up a single serving package at Whole Foods or other retailers of the different flavors and then return to Amazon to purchase the tub size. Oh, and you can throw away all your vitamin bottles as Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer contains 100% of most things you’d ever need.

As a vegetarian athlete, I love this stuff! It is the perfect breakfast shake just mixed with water, as well as an excellent post-workout recovery drink. The chocolate flavor is not overwhelming nor too sweet.
I notice that I do feel energized in the mornings after drinking this. Along with better muscle tone from the extra protein this supplement provides, my skin and nails are looking great too. I recommend only going with one scoop at a time instead of two – makes it so much easier to drink! Also mixing this product in a shaker seems to be the best, as it does have a tendency to clump. A bit expensive, but high quality and worth the money.

if there’s one healthy thing you eat a day, make it vega. it’s much more than a protein powder, it provides almost everything you need for the day in 1 meal.
healthy things always have a not so friendly taste, but what do you expect when eating something healthy? i don’t think it taste so bad, but if you eat mcdonalds you might not agree.
I find chocolate is always best to make things taste better.
I usually make a smoothie with frozen fruits and add in seaweed sometimes for an extra health kick.

The powder itself mixes and cleans up easily. It does take two large scoops to make one serving so it’s not as portable as I’d like.
This particular flavor I find tastiest when combined with ice cold water, otherwise I prefer the natural flavor.
I am not a doctor (so whatever I say please consult your physician and have no real expertise) but as to my personal experience, no single product has done more for my most recent weight loss and increase in energy than this product. It has a high fiber, vitamin and mineral content, leaving me full and energetic for hours, therefore I eat much less bad food and as a result my joint inflammation is down, my hunger levels are WAY down and I’ve lost about 7 lbs in the last 3 weeks since I started taking this product daily.
Those looking to for a budget option consider straight hemp protein, a good multivitamin, and lots of fiber supplements ( I try to stay over 30 grams total fiber a day). This would be almost equivalent though I wonder if it would be as well tolerated if one chose the cheaper synthetic versions.
